f) HuntBros Scout (companion device)
HuntBros Scout is a device that enables off-network communication.
When you use it:
Data exchanged
- GPS position
- Device identifier
- Network messages (mesh)
How it works
- Local communication without a cellular network
- Transmission over radio (mesh)
- Synchronization with our servers when available
⚠️ Data may be:
- transmitted locally between devices
- stored temporarily before synchronization
g) Analytics, crash reporting, and notifications (Firebase)
Our mobile app uses Google Firebase services to understand usage, detect crashes, and send push notifications.
Firebase Analytics
- Aggregated usage events (screens viewed, app opens, main actions)
- Anonymized device information (model, OS version, language, region)
- Firebase installation ID (not tied to your Google account)
- Analytics never receives the content of your messages, your precise GPS coordinates, or your hunt track
Firebase Crashlytics
- Crash reports (stack trace, app version, device model, memory, locale)
- Non-fatal JavaScript errors for diagnostics
- Recent technical log (breadcrumbs) attached to the report
Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications)
- Device FCM token — required to deliver a push notification to you
- We only send activity-related notifications: chat, hunt sessions, safety / proximity alerts, payments
3. Use of Data
We use your data to:
- Provide the Service (map, position, coordination)
- Enable offline mode (Scout)
- Synchronize data
- Improve the application
- Maintain security
- Manage subscriptions and payments
- Communicate with you
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data.
We may share:
- Your position with members of your group
- Data with service providers (hosting, payments, analytics)
- Data if required by law
5. Geolocation and consent
HuntBros uses foreground and background location during an active hunt session.
By using the app, you agree that:
- Your position is shared in real time with your group during a session
- GPS data is stored on our servers
- Accuracy varies with conditions (GPS, network, environment)
On Android, while background tracking is active, a persistent notification ("foreground service") stays visible in your status bar: the system requires it so the app can keep updating your position when the screen is off or the app is in the background. On iOS, the system shows a blue location indicator under the same conditions.
Why we need background location:
- Share your position in real time with other group members for the duration of the session
- Power the safety radar (proximity alerts between hunters)
- Record the session's GPS trace even when the phone is pocketed
- Tracking stops as soon as you leave the session or close the active session
6. Offline mode (Scout)
In offline mode:
- Data flows through Scout devices
- It may be stored locally
- It is synchronized as soon as a connection is available
7. Data retention
We retain your data:
- For as long as your account is active
- GPS traces until you delete them or delete your account
- As required by law
8. Data security
We implement reasonable measures to protect your data (encryption, restricted access).
9. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction:
- Access your data
- Correct your data
- Request deletion
- Withdraw consent
10. Third-party services
We use third-party services, including:
- Stripe (web payments)
- Google (Android, Google Play Billing)
- Apple (iOS, App Store, In-App Purchase)
- Firebase / Google (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging — push notifications)
- Hosting and cloud infrastructure providers
These services have their own privacy policies.

You can grant, deny, or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
